Setting up your personal information is a key element that ensures that your logbook stays up to date for semiannual/APART requirements. More importantly it is required for accurate Reports.

The Information Area will give you hints, tips, and information about the current field that you have selected.

Admin Data
The Pilot Information most of it under the Admin Data area is used for future reporting. Some of the key fields that need to be filled out would be the following:

  • Name & Email
  • Password
  • ATP Company
  • Primary Aircraft

Primary Aircraft
You can choose your Primary Aircraft from the drop down menu. You’ll notice that the SemiAnnual fields will change based on your selection. NOTE: CHOOSE AN AIRCRAFT BEFORE YOU START LOGGING FLIGHTS.

Company Subscription Code PLEASE READ
Your company selection code is important because this is how you are grouped in company reporting. Only Commanders of the ATP will have access to this and maybe the Platoon Leader. They can use these reports in order to assist them in scheduling flights, knowing who needs to fly based on currency or based on meeting their ATP requirements. If your company doesn't have a keycode then select "00000." By selecting "00000" it tells the Army Flight Logbook that you don't belong to ANY company that has a subscription. If you decide to select anything other than the "00000" and your company is not on the subscription list your information will appear in their reporting.

For company subscriptions simply email us by using the contact form. The company subscription is FREE however all aviators must purchase a ArmyFlightLogbook membership in order to log flights.

In this example we will add IP. And in order to add it to our list click the ADD button.

After you click the ADD button you'll see that it is added to your list. To remove it highlight what you are wanting to remove and click the remove button.

Like I said before this will change based on your aircraft. For example if you change the selection from AH64 to OH58 you’ll notice that Simulator Minimums go away since you OH58 pilots don’t have simulators. And they also don’t worry about Seat Minimums. So with that said Aircraft Minimums should be entered based on your Semiannual requirements to include prorations. If you have simulator minimums you enter those values as well.
Ensuring you type these values in correctly is essential for the logbook to give you accurate reports. When we discuss the SemiAnnual Tab in your Flight Logbook this is where it draws the data from. If you don’t have minimums then you can ignore this section. However if you don’t fill these in then you’re not using the logbook to the fullest potential.

Where do you find your minimums required?
You’ll have to check your ATM for those numbers. Based on multiple airframes and ATM’s out there we decided not to auto populate these values

Semi Annual Start & End Dates
By clicking the form cells for the dates a menu will drop down where you can choose your dates.
The importance of the Semi Annual Data is these are the dates that Flight Logbook will use when calculating your semi annual report. The Flight Logbook will use those dates to add up every flight in between those dates and subtract the hours you have logged from your minimums that you are required to log.

So that about covers the Personal Information section of the Flight Logbook. In the next chapter we will go over logging your first flight.

Click the save and update button in order to save the data.


Viewing Flights

So after you get all your personal data set up correctly you should be ready to start logging flights. You’ll be logging flights based on your PRIMARY Aircraft that you selected in the Pilots Information.

So to enter the logbook you’ll click the “Flight Logbook” button and you’ll be taken to the your Aircraft Logbook.

You’ll notice that there are 4 top buttons labeled “Flights, Simulator, Semiannual, and Totals”
The Flights and Simulator are you two logbooks - one for your aircraft and the other for your simulator. It’s like having one logbook with a divider keeping the Aircraft Flights separate from the Simulator Flights.
So opening the logbook for either the first time or for any other time the spreadsheet is blank. That is by design as you have several choices available to you allowing you to fill the tables.

You’ll notice 3 buttons at the top of the spreadsheet (View All Flights, Filter by Date, and Filter by Current Semi - Period).
1. Viewing All Flights
If you have flights logged clicking the “View All Flights” button does exactly that. It will find all the flights you have logged based on your PRIMARY AIRCRAFT that you have selected in the Pilot Information section discussed in the previous section.
2. Filter by Date
Clicking the either Start or End date will trigger a date menu to appear. When you choose the date it will be inserted in the respected form field.
Once the start date and end date have been selected you can click the Filter by Date button. The spreadsheet will populate with flights that occurred in-between the dates.
3. Viewing Semiannual Period
When you click the Filter by Semi - Period button you will notice that the start and end dates will populate with dates. These populate with whatever dates you have entered/saved in the Semi Annual Data on the Pilot Information page. If you haven’t entered any dates then this button will not work and will prompt you to fix the error.
After the dates are filled in the spreadsheet will start to fill in with flights that occurred between those two dates.
Note: If your semiannual dates are wrong you will need to fix this in the Pilot Information section.

Flight Log Spreadsheet

We tried to keep this simple enough to get the details you need at a glance without making the space looked too crammed. So with that said you get the basics from the spreadsheet and if you’re looking for a little more detail you’ll have to select the flight of interest and you should see it appear in the expanded details below.
Note: The ID column that you see in the far left is your unique log entry number. You can think of it as a row number.

Adding a Flight

One of the things to keep in mind is that when you are logging flights or sim periods you will be logging flights based on the Primary Aircraft that you have selected under your Pilot Information. However adding a flight is really simple.

Simply click the "Create a New Flight" button and a Adding a Flight dialog box will appear.

You can fill out the data cells that are important to you and click the add button. If a form field shown in the dialog box that doesn't pertain to you leave it blank.

To view the flight you just added you'll have to click the View All Flights button. And based on your flight logbook and the date you have it will appear in chronological order.

You can either select a row or double click a row and you will be in edit mode. You'll know that you are in edit mode because everything in the Expanded Information box now becomes active - meaning you can click and change things.

The Edit Area should now be active. You can change anything you wish in this area. Once you hit update it will save to the database and your selected row should be updated.

After you have made your changes pressing the update key will update your logbook.

Deleting Record
If you choose to delete press the delete button. Notice that you have a delete button with the corresponding ID field. That is how you know that you are altering the correct row. This will preeminently remove this from your logbook.

NOTE: You will not be able to select another row until you either Update, Delete, or Cancel.


Company Reports - Glide slope

Glide slope tells you as a Flight Scheduler who needs to fly in order to meet their ATP minimums.

It compares the HOURS REQUIRED Column you required per the semi annual period and checks this based on TODAY's date where your TOTAL HOURS REMAINING Column should be if you were on track to meet your A/C Minimums - this is called the BASELINE. The glide slope is the difference from HOURS REMAINING Column and subtracts it from the BASELINE Column.

What does this all mean?

So a way you can interpret this report is if you are POSITIVE number in your GLIDE SLOPE then that person SHOULD FLY. Because you are ABOVE GLIDE SLOPE. If you are ZERO or NEGATIVE then you are on track to meet your ATP Minimums.

If the RED line is you over the course of your semiannual period as you can see by the end of July you were above glide slope because you didn't fly as much as you needed to stay on BASELINE. However in August you were able to fly more hours thus getting you BELOW GLIDE SLOPE. The goal of this report is to show you if you are on track or not based on the number of days left you have in your semi annual period in reaching your Total Hour requirement.
